MSC Cruises Outlines Return To Middle East

MSC Cruises has announced a return to the Middle East with the 2,069-passenger MSC Lirica. Homeporting in the UAE for the 2013/2014 winter season, she will take travellers on a journey of discovery through the fast changing region and its traditions, modernity and landscapes.

Week-long Explorations of Oman and UAE

Beginning her deployment on 5 November 2013, the ship will depart Genoa on a 19-day repositioning voyage, arriving in Dubai on 22 November 2013 after calls in Civitavecchia, Valletta, Piraeus, Port Said, Safaga, Salalah and Muscat. MSC Lirica will then offer 8-day cruises from the emirate until March 2014, visiting Abu Dhabi, Khor al Fakkan, Muscat, Khasab and featuring an overnight stay in Dubai for cruisers to enjoy the unique nightlife of the city.

Shore Excursions Showcase the Old and the New

MSC Cruises has lined up a comprehensive shore excursion programme designed to reveal the natural beauty, history and culture of the region. Desert dunes, tranquil wadis together with the rugged Masafi and Hajjar Mountains can be explored from Khor al Fakkan, while traditional dhow cruises in Khasab and the architecturally-inspiring forts, mosques and palaces of Muscat showcase the best of Omani culture.

Guests will also have the opportunity to experience Abu Dhabi’s futuristic skyscrapers and opulent developments, including the Emirates Palace, Saadiyat Island, Yas Island and the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, a masterpiece of neo-Islamic architecture. Not to be missed is modern Dubai and her man-made wonders – the Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab hotel and the iconic Palm Jumeirah.

A division of the Mediterranean Shipping Company, MSC Cruises currently operates a fleet of 11 cruise ships. The line is set to welcome its new flagship, MSC Preziosa, next month.
