Marriott International Launches Moxy Hotels

Hospitality giant Marriott International is to venture into the economy hotel segment with the launch of its latest brand, Moxy Hotels. Combining stylish, contemporary design with approachable service and affordable pricing, the new brand is targeted at the next-generation traveller and will debut in Milan early next year.


Properties will average 150 to 300 rooms and will be designed to attain LEED Gold certification from the US Green Building Council. Neutral colours and natural materials evoke an organic, comfortable and restorative feel, while a specially-selected, floor-to-ceiling signature artwork will reflect the location. Functionality to guests will be a key feature with upscale bath amenities, flatscreen televisions, complimentary wireless internet and USB connectivity within each wall electrical outlet aimed at providing convenience for work and play.


In the public areas, hotels will offer social spaces with the lobby incorporating computer stations and a 24/7 market for snacks and drinks. Meeting spaces will provide facilities including ergonomic seating, large writing walls and 56-inch televisions for projection screenings.


Marriott International plans to add 150 Moxy Hotels under the franchise model in Europe over the next 10 years. Locations being considered for development include Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the UK.
