Holland America Line Increases Capacity In Asia For 2013/2014

Holland America Line is increasing its focus on Asia with a capacity increase and new itineraries for the region during the 2013/2014 cruise season. The ms Rotterdam and ms Volendam will be operating a selection of itineraries and 4 extensive Collectors’ Voyages from ports including Hong Kong, Kobe and Singapore.

 

19-day Great Barrier Reef

Departing Melbourne on 20 November 2013, ms Volendam will cruise the Australian east coast with stops at Burnie, Cairns, Darwin, Hamilton Island and Sydney as well as 2 days of scenic cruising on the Great Barrier Reef. She heads north into Indonesia, visiting Bali, Komodo Island and Semarang before arriving in Singapore to begin her Asian deployment.

 

12-/14-/16-day Far East Discovery

Following her arrival into Singapore on 9 December 2013, ms Volendam sets sail again for Hong Kong on a 12-day sailing, calling at Danang, Halong Bay, Koh Samui, Laem Chabang, Nha Trang, Phu My and Sihanoukville enroute. On her 16-day holiday voyage return from Hong Kong on 21 December 2013, the ship will overnight in the city, Laem Chabang and Phu My for guests to spend more time to experience the ports’ attractions. During her deployment, ms Volendam will operate a further 3 sailings of the itinerary.

 

14-day Asian Adventure

Exploring Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar and India, cruisers on this 14-day roundtrip from Singapore visit Malacca, Penang, Phuket, Port Blair, Port Klang and Porto Malai, with an overnight in Yangon where they can visit the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda and its gilded domes. Travellers may also combine this itinerary with ms Volendam’s previous sailing for the 28-day Far East Adventure Collectors’ Voyage.

 

14-day China and Japan

Repositioning to Kobe, ms Volendam explores northeast asia with a pair of 14-day cruises with port calls in Busan, Dalian, Nagasaki, Shanghai and Xingang. Overnights in the latter allow in-depth visits to see old and new China, represented by metropolitan Shanghai and Beijing’s historic sites of the Forbidden City, Great Wall of China and Tiananmen Square.

 

51-day Spice Route to Singapore Collectors’ Voyage

ms Rotterdam joins her fleetmate in Asia from her namesake city, from where she departs on 8 January 2014 for a 51-day repositioning with port calls in Egypt, Greece, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Malta, Oman, Portugal, Spain, Sri Lanka and Thailand. Highlights include a daylight transit of the Suez Canal, late departure from Safaga and ovenights in Bali, Mumbai and Muscat. Holland America Line will also offer shorter itinerary segments of 25, 36, 37 and 39 days on this cruise.

 

14-day Indonesian Discovery

In Asia, ms Rotterdam offers her guests a series of voyages to Indonesia. Port calls in the former Dutch colony include Jakarta, Komodo Island, Lombok, Makassar, Probolinggo, Semarang, Surabaya and an overnight stay in Bali. Departures are scheduled for 6 January, 14 and 28 February and 14 March 2014, with the final sailing forming part of her return cruise to Europe and Collectors’ Voyage.

 

53-day Indonesia, Arabia and India Discovery Collectors’ Voyage

ms Rotterdam returns to the Netherlands in mid-March 2014, retracing her route through the Straits of Malacca, Indian Ocean, Red Sea, the Mediterranean and the Iberian coast. Enroute, she calls at ports in Egypt, Greece, India, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Oman, Portugal, Spain, Sri Lanka and Thailand. Shorter legs of 25, 38 and 39 days will be available on this cruise.
