W Hotels Enters China With Guangzhou Opening

Starwood’s trendy W Hotels brand marks its arrival in China with the opening of the W Guangzhou. Renowned architect Rocco Yim juxtaposes the historic city’s modern urban tapestry with a sleek black glass tower set in the bustling Pearl River New Town district, a short 40-minute drive from Baiyun International Airport.

A 19-meter tall “Luminous Water Wall” from WETDesign at the entrance conjures images of Impressionist paintings with a liquid mosaic of light, lines and colour, while the guestrooms and suites feature interiors from award-winning agency Yabu Pushelberg. Ranging from the Spectacular room to the Extreme WOW suite, each offers motion sensor capability, the signature W Bed, bathroom with Bliss amenities, 46-inch LED high-definition television with state-of-the-art surround sound system, high-speed internet access, MP3 connectivity, workstation, Munchie Box and coffee-/tea-making facilities.

W Guangzhou features 3 signature restaurants and 2 dynamic nightlife venues. The Kitchen Table’s stylish relaxed and welcoming setting with oversized communal tables and open kitchen encourages mingling, while Yan Yu presents a symphony of Cantonese delicacies from the materfully designed menu created in collaboration with celebrity chef Jereme Leung. I by Inagiku offers indoor or garden dining options, with a casual sushi and teppanyaki counter as well as a sake bar. At night, guests can sip, flirt and mingle at WOOBAR, which will also host monthly Happenings events showcasing design, fashion and music trends for guests. Alternatively, Fei Ultralounge’s pulsating light installation can be seen from both inside and outside the hotel as the resident DJ spins tunes to keep the dance floor moving.

More than 2,000 square meters of meeting and event space are available to event planners at W Guangzhou. The spaces include a selection of studios that are completely customizable with fully-adaptable conference equipment and modern audio-visual facilities and Verve, a private multi-function room with a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows that let in beautiful natural daylight and offer easy access to the private lush gardens outdoors.
