Avalon Waterways To Christen New Ship In Germany

Fast-growing river cruise line Avalon Waterways prepares to unveil its newest ship, Avalon Expression. Author of travel guide “1000 Places to See Before You Die” Patricia Schultz will christen the river cruiser in a low-key christening ceremony on the dock at Koblenz, Germany.

The vessel is the fifth of the Panorama-class ships and accommodate 166 passengers, with the suites onboard being larger than those on competing ships. Featuring the comforts of home, each has floor-to-ceiling windows that create a balcony-like space, while dedicated seating areas with tables large enough for dining and marble bathrooms with roomy showers offer top-class luxury for cruisers.

Avalon Expression’s spacious, open-seating dining room serves international meals showcasing specialties from the ship’s operating destinations. Regional dishes and lighter fare can be had at the Panorama Bistro, while the Panorama Lounge offers nightly social hour and drink specials.

The ship will operate in Europe, traversing the River Danube, River Rhine and River Main. She will offer itineraries such as the 8-day Legendary Danube sailing between Nuremberg and Budapest, 8-day Blue Danube Discovery between Nuremberg and Prague, and the 15-day Magnificent Europe sailing between Amsterdam and Budapest.

Created in 2004, Avalon Waterways is one of the newer river cruise lines. The company operates 23 river cruisers around the world today and is in the midst of an aggressive new-build program to add more vessels.
