Philadelphia To Be Qatar Airways’ Next North American Destination

Qatar Airways has announced plans to begin nonstop flights between Doha and Philadelphia, making the city its newest gateway in the USA.

When services begin in March 2014, flight QR 727 will depart Doha’s new Hamad International Airport at 0100 hrs, arriving at Philadelphia International Airport at 0750 hrs. On the return leg, flight QR 728 takes off from Philadelphia at 1040 hrs to land back in Doha at 0615 hrs the next morning. Qatar Airways will fly its 2-class Boeing 777-300ER jet on the route.

Citing strong demand for travel between the USA and Asia, the airline is looking to route traffic through the Middle East and targeting Philadelphia’s large Asian communities. It will also be able to leverage on its membership in the Oneworld alliance, benefiting from the strong hub position of partner American Airlines at Philadelphia for traffic feed around the region.

Philadelphia will become the fifth destination in the USA for Qatar Airways and its sixth in North America. The airline began flights to Chicago last month and also flies to Houston, Montreal, New York and Washington DC.
