London’s Hotel Xenia Opens

Following a 2-year development, the new Hotel Xenia has opened in London’s South Kensington district, minutes by foot from many of the city’s most famous museums. Housed in a Victorian building lovingly restored at a cost of approximately GBP9 million (USD13.8 million), the hotel is the latest addition to Great Hotels of the World’s Premium Collection.

Boasting 99 contemporary guestrooms, including London’s first suite with a Turkish bath, Hotel Xenia offers stylish accommodation. Featuring double beds with fine cotton linen and hand-woven cashmere blankets, powerful rainforest showers, complimentary wireless internet, in-room safe and coffee-/tea-making facilities, the accommodations embody practical sophistication with the 32-inch flatscreen television, Bluetooth wireless speakers and other in-room technology controlled by the tablet computer in each guestroom.

The hotel’s restaurant, Evoluzione, serves Italian cuisine with a healthy twist. Inspired by renowned nutritionist Chiara Manzi, renowned Italian chef Pasquale D’Ambrosio’s low calorie creations are served in the bright and elegant conservatory. A dedicated show cooking station provides daily demonstrations for diners, while an al fresco dining area offers the best of the British outdoors. Lounge is an ideal spot for morning coffee with natural light flooding in from the gallery windows and the space transforms into a sultry bar in the evenings showcasing a decadent wine tasting cabinet. Living Wall is a vibrant bar concept serving a premium selection of European beers and the heated herb garden is perfect for indulging in a cigar from the well-stocked humidor.

Hotel Xenia’s private event room is a highly flexible space to host private parties, corporate entertainment, receptions or gatherings for up to 80 guests, with in-room technology that offers an unparalleled audio-visual experience. Guests may also cater for events in the private dining room, accommodating up to 14 guests.

Hotel Xenia bolsters Great Hotels of the World’s London portfolio to 7 boutique properties, joining Hazlitts, the St. James Hotel & Club, The Capital, The Landmark London, The Rookery and Umi Hotel London.
