Both properties are part of the up-and-coming Iskandar Malaysia project, a special economic zone envisaged to capitalize on synergies with Singapore and boost the development of Malaysia.

Renaissance Johor Bahru Hotel

The Tunku Temenggong Johor, Y.A.M Tunku Idris Iskandar Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, officiated the opening of Marriott International’s new Renaissance Johor Bahru Hotel. Situated in the Permas Jaya district, the 17-floor hotel is a short drive from the city centre of Johor Bahru, the port and industrial area of Pasir Gudang, as well as the border with Singapore.

Artfully balanced, the 345 guestrooms and suites offer contemporary styling and amenities to accommodate business and leisure guests. Among the facilities are luxury King-sized and twin beds, spacious bathroom with toiletries from Tokyo Milk, 42-inch LCD television, high-speed internet access, workdesk, minibar and coffee-/tea-making facilities.

Restaurants and bars at the Renaissance Johor Bahru Hotel include the all-day dining Cafe BLD serving international cuisine with a local touch, the Wan Li restaurant focusing on authentic Cantonese cuisine and The Chocolate Cake Company featuring the hotel’s own freshly baked cakes, breads and pastries. Completing the quartet is the R-Bar, a sophisticated lobby bar offering the brand’s exclusive RLife LIVE entertainment.

7 flexible meeting rooms with state-of-the-art technology and natural light are available to business travellers and meeting planners, while an outdoor swimming pool and fitness center cater for leisure and relaxation. Beyond the property, the hotel’s guest services team can arrange for local sightseeing, golfing and other activities around the vicinity.

With the opening of the Renaissance Johor Bahru Hotel, the brand now boasts 3 properties across Malaysia together with the Renaissance Kota Bharu Hotel and the Renaissance Kuala Lumpur in the capital.
