Hawaiian Airlines Adds Taipei To Network

Hawaiian Airlines has launched non-stop service from Honolulu to Taipei, its seventh Asian destination and the latest addition to its expanding international network. Gate-side festivities for the inaugural flight included the traditional Hawaiian blessing, music and hula, Taiwanese cultural performance and the presentation of lei to passengers, as government and commercial VIPs joined the transpacific crossing.

Flight HA 807 departs Honolulu International Airport at 0155 hrs on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, arriving at Taoyuan International Airport at 0615 hrs the next day after crossing the International Date Line. On the return sector, flight HA 808 takes off from Taipei at 2055 hrs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, landing back in Hawaii at 1310 hrs the same day.

Hawaiian Airlines will operate the flights using a 294-seat A330-200 aircraft. Featuring high-resolution LCD touch-screen monitors in each seatback, the jet’s state-of-the-art entertainment system offers a wide range of movies, short features, music and video games with USB and iPod connectivity. Complementing the hardware is the airline’s signature ‘Mea Ho’okipa’ service culture, a celebration of the people and Aloha spirit of the islands.

Taipei follows Tokyo (November 2010), Seoul (January 2011), Osaka (July 2011), Fukuoka (April 2012), Sapporo (October 2012) and Sendai (June 2013) served by Hawaiian Airlines as part of its ongoing Asian expansion. The airline is poised to begin flying nonstop to Beijing in April 2014, pending government approval.
