Inaugural China Season For Sapphire Princess Revealed

Princess Cruises has announced details of its upcoming Chinese debut in 2014, naming Shanghai as the home port for Sapphire Princess during a 4-month season expected to carry 70,000 passengers. The news follows Princess Cruises’ earlier reveal of the ship’s Southeast Asian deployment, where she will spend November 2014 to February 2015 cruising the region from Singapore.

Beginning in May 2014, the new China season will feature 4 different roundtrip itineraries, ranging from 3- to 7-days and combining popular Northeast Asian destinations with the quality and comfort sought by discerning Chinese travelers. On the 3-day cruise, Sapphire Princess will call at the magical island of Jeju, with the 4-day voyage also including a visit to Busan. Her 5-day itinerary includes stopovers in Jeju and Incheon, while guests seeking a comprehensive experience can embark on the 7-day cruise covering all 3 ports.

Passengers on the new China-based cruises will be treated to unique cultural, culinary, entertaining and inspiring programs which have become a hallmark of the Princess Cruises experience. These include world leader dinners, sommelier wine excursions, daily English high tea, the only 24-hour buffet at-sea, Tai Chi and Zumba at-sea, a “Princess Night” bedtime experience, unparalleled shopping experience and the “Touch of Class” personal enrichment courses designed to appeal to multi-generational groups.

Built in Japan, Sapphire Princess was refurbished last year to offer the line’s signature features. She carries 2,670 passengers and boasts premium accommodation, dining and recreation facilities at-sea, including a casino, duty-free shops, fitness center and spa, sports deck, children’s and teen’s centers, library, internet café, wedding chapel, art gallery and a golf putting course, among other features.
