Now Open: Raffles Hainan

Raffles Hotels & Resorts arrives at a new milestone as it expands its collection to 10 hotels with the opening of Raffles Hainan – the brand’s second property in China. Enjoying a prime beachfront location in Qingshui Bay, the 331-key resort is part of a 500-square kilometer development that also encompasses private residences, 2 championship golf courses designed by USA-based Schmidt-Curley Design, a 780-berth marina and yacht clubs, luxury retail and entertainment complex.

Raffles Hainan’s 299 guestrooms and 32 villas all boast private balconies and scenic views of the ocean or golf course. The interior decor features contemporary design combined with locally-inspired accents, where artisan wood furnishings, colourful fabrics and artwork pay tribute to Hainan Island’s traditional hill tribes, without sacrificing the modern comforts sought by travellers. Luxury amenities include custom linens and goose down bedding, spacious marble bathroom with separate rainforest shower and bathtub, high-definition LED television, interactive entertainment system, workdesk, private bar and coffee machine.

7 restaurants and bars add to the array of world-class dining available in Hainan Island. Bai Wei, meaning ‘a hundred flavours’ in Mandarin, showcases the rich variety of Chinese dining, while Sapori offers fresh seafood and authentic Mediterranean dishes. Desa and Sing Ken Ken present casual dining options in relaxed, idyllic settings, complemented by the Clearwater Bay Lounge and the Long Bar, a tribute to its famous namesake at the Raffles Hotel in Singapore. Villa guests also have exclusive access to the Villa Club, an elegant private venue.

Raffles Hainan’s beachfront pavilion and 790-square meter ballroom provide outdoor and indoor venues for formal business and social occasions, with 7 smaller, multi-functional meeting rooms accommodating intimate events. For recreation, a large Raffles Spa offers both Asian and Western treatments, while the adjacent championship courses of the Clearwater Bay Golf Club have been rated amongst China’s Top 100 courses. Swimming pools, tennis courts, an expansive gymnasium and water sports add to the list of activities found at the resort.

Raffles Hotels & Resorts’ art connection continues in Hainan as the resort showcases over 1,000 works of art throughout the grounds. Curated by Willow Gallery from Hong Kong, these include specially commissioned works from contemporary Chinese artists, sculptures, tribal ornaments and even multimedia art.

Raffles Hainan is Raffles Hotels & Resorts’ second property in China, following sister property Raffles Beijing. The brand is currently developing new hotels and resorts in Istanbul and Jakarta, scheduled to debut in 2014.
