Etihad Airways Begins Vietnam Flights

Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways expanded its network in Southeast Asia today with the launch of services to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Flight EY 441 departs Abu Dhabi daily at 0830 hrs, arriving in Ho Chi Minh City at 1900 hrs in the evening. The return flight, EY 440, takes off from Tan Son Nhut International Airport at 1950 hrs to land back at Abu Dhabi International Airport at 0050 hrs the next day. Etihad will fly a 2-class Airbus A330-200 jet on the route, configured with 22 Pearl business and 240 Coral economy class seats.

The UAE national airline is targeting business and leisure travellers flying between Vietnam, the Middle East and further afield in Europe to fill the 3,700 seats it will inject each week to the route, offering the convenience of seamless connections at its hub. Commercially, Etihad hopes to leverage the cargo capacity of the aircraft to boost its airfreight business.

Etihad Airways will codeshare with Vietnam Airlines on the Abu Dhabi – Ho Chi Minh City route, extending the scope of cooperation between both carriers. The Middle Eastern airline already codeshares on Vietnam Airlines’ flights from Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, while its Bangkok-Abu Dhabi and Kuala Lumpur – Abu Dhabi flights carry Vietnam Airlines’ ‘VN’ code.
