Ritz-Carlton Opens In Chengdu

Luxury hospitality operator The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company opened its newest Chinese property this week in Chengdu. Towering above Tianfu Square in the city’s cosmopolitan heart, the 353-room property provides an ideal base to explore the natural, cultural and historical side of Chengdu, which sits astride the 2,000-year old Silk Road.

The hotel’s interior design is inspired by traditional Chinese courtyard homes, with oriental motifs skillfully blended into the contemporary decor. Unrivalled views of downtown Chengdu reveal themselves from the highest guestrooms and suites in the city, furnished with luxury bedding, elegant marble bathroom accompanied by exclusive Asprey bath amenities, 42-inch LCD television, iPod docking station, high-speed internet access, workstation, in-room safe and minibar. In addition, The Ritz-Carlton Club Level provides an exclusive concierge, private check-in, and five delicious food and beverage services throughout the day within a stunning lounge facility.

4 restaurants and bars promise memorable dining experiences. Li Xuan offers sophisticated interpretations of classic Cantonese and fiery Sichuanese dishes in refined surroundings, while the all-day dining SPICES serves cuisine from China, Italy, Japan and Southeast Asia from its open kitchens. The tradition of english afternoon tea can be had at The Lobby Lounge and when the sun sets, guests can indulge in classic cocktails, Asian tapas and sushi to live music and a 360-degree fireplace at the FLAIR lounge, designed by renowned design house KCA International.

The Ritz-Carlton Chengdu can cater to a broad range of upscale meetings and events. 2 luxury ballrooms and 7 meeting rooms offer a combined 1,700-square meters of event space, supported by a full-service business centre. Leisure travellers will appreciate the rejuvenating spa designed by Hirsch Bedner Associates using indigenous woods, metals, marble and silk, drawing its inspiration from the Silk Road that has brought and fascincated travellers to Chengdu for centuries. The striking sanctuary also includes a beauty salon and a Technogym-outfitted Fitness Center built around a 25-meter indoor swimming pool equipped with an underwater music system.

There are now 9 Ritz-Carlton properties operating in China, with hotels located in Beijing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Sanya, Shanghai and Shenzhen. The brand will add Tianjin to this list when it opens The Ritz-Carlton Tianjin, currently under development.
