Anthem Of The Seas To Debut In Southampton

Royal Caribbean International has confirmed that its second Quantum-class ship, Anthem of the Seas, will cruise her inaugural season from Southampton when she debuts in spring 2015.

The announcement will be popular with cruisers based in the region and boost Southampton’s cruise offerings. Replacing the Independence of the Seas, Royal Caribbean International expects more than 80,000 people to sail on the groundbreaking ship during her deployment.

Currently under construction at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, the 167,800-GRT ship will offer Mediterranean cruises from the British port in spring and summer 2015. She will then reposition across the Atlantic Ocean to Fort Lauderdale and spend winter in the Caribbean.

Together with her sister ship Quantum of the Seas, Anthem of the Seas will feature several ‘firsts at sea’ including larger staterooms with virtual balconies, bumper cars and roller-skating at the SeaPlex and the RipCord by iFly indoor skydiving facility. A key highlight will be the North Star observation capsule that extends 30 meters over the ocean. Inside, she will also boast a new music hall hosting intimate live performances and DJ sets.
