Singapore To Get Madame Tussauds Attraction

The southeast asian city-state of Singapore will add another world-class attraction to its portfolio next year. Global attractions operator Merlin Entertainments will open its first Madame Tussauds in Singapore, its sixth in Asia.

The company will take over the operation of the existing Images of Singapore attraction, an interactive multi-sensory museum on Sentosa island. Originally opened in 1983 and then relaunched in 2005, Images of Singapore showcases Singapore’s culture and history with the use of multimedia displays and theatre presentations.

Merlin Entertainments will upgrade and remodel the attraction, before presenting it as Madame Tussauds Singapore in 2014. Like its sister attractions, it will feature a range of local and international celebrity waxwork figures, divided into a range of zones including politicians, sports stars and Hollywood icons, backed up with audio-visual technology. It will also become the first Madame Tussauds outside London to incorporate a ride.

Singapore joins Bangkok, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo and Wuhan in hosting Madame Tussauds, although plans are in place to bring the attraction to Beijing in future.
