Arcadia Returns To Service After Refit

P&O Cruises welcomes Arcadia back to the fleet in time for Christmas following a multi-million pound refurbishment. Completed over 3 weeks in Bremerhaven, the extensive refit saw an entire stem-to-stern refresh of the ship’s accommodation, dining and entertainment facilities while upholding the line’s commitment to a consistent decor standard across the fleet.

24 new cabins have been added on the ship’s sun deck 10, including a duo of single cabins with balcony (a first for P&O Cruises and unique to Arcadia) and a new mini suite. Her existing cabins have also been refreshed with new carpets, curtains and larger flatscreen televisions.

At the forefront of the dining improvements is the introduction of East, an Asian fusion restaurant with culinary direction from Michelin-starred celebrity chef Atul Kochhar. Like her sister restaurant on Ventura, the Indonesian menu has influences from Thai, Malaysian and Vietnamese cuisine. For greater flexibility to cruisers, the line has also introduced Freedom Dining to the upper level of the ship’s Meridian restaurant, while the Crow’s Nest lounge and bar receives new flooring, seating areas, lighting and a new-look extended bar.

Arcadia’s shopping area has been extended and reconfigured with an open-plan layout reminiscent of a modern department store to include new brands such as Givenchy, benefit, Gerry Weber and Ted Baker. The Globe has now been totally encased to provide a late-night dancing venue with enhanced sound quality and soundproofing for the comfort of cruisers.

Currently cruising the Caribbean Sea, Arcadia will embark on her 92-night world circumnavigation in early January 2014 from Southampton, sailing via the Azores, Caribbean, Panama Canal, Tahiti, Australia, Southeast Asia, the Indian subcontinent, Middle East, Suez Canal and the Mediterranean Sea. She continues to offer a summer schedule in the warm waters of the Mediterranean Sea, as well as Scandinavian itineraries.
