Air France Reveals New International Business Class Product

Air France has unveiled its new Business Class, which it refers to as a ‘cocoon in the sky’. The move follows recent upgrades to the airline’s Economy Class, which also features a new seat and inflight entertainment.

 

The Skyteam member has selected Zodiac Aerospace’s Cirrus seat, customizing it with input from designer Mark Collins of Design Investment, who also designed Air France’s Premium Economy product. The popular seat is also used by several other airlines, including Cathay Pacific, American Airlines and EVA Air.

 

Set in a reverse herringbone 1-2-1 layout, the seat promises greater comfort and freedom. Finished in leather and top-stitching, it converts to a full-flat seat bed for better sleep ergonomics and direct-aisle access for each passenger. A 16-inch high-definition touchscreen delivers over 1,000 hours of entertainment, paired with a touchscreen controller, noise-cancelling headphones and USB connectivity.

 

Part of a EUR 500 million investment to upgrade its flying product, 2,102 seats will be installed between June 2014 and summer 2016 on 44 Boeing 777 aircraft, which form the core of Air France’s long-haul fleet. The seat debuts on the Paris (Charles de Gaulle) – New York (John F. Kennedy) route in June 2014.
