International Ambitions For Flynas

Saudi low cost carrier Flynas outlined its international ambitions with details of upcoming services to London and Manchester. The airline also revealed plans for more long-haul routes to key markets in Africa, Asia and Europe.

Jeddah – London (Gatwick)

From 8 April 2014, the airline will operate a 3-times weekly, non-stop flight between Jeddah and London’s Gatwick Airport.

Flight XY 021 will depart Jeddah on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 0445 hrs, 0410 hrs and 0430 hrs respectively, landing in London at 0925 hrs, 0850 hrs and 0910 hrs. Return service XY 022 will takeoff from London (Gatwick) at 1050 hrs, touching down in Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport at 1905 hrs.

Jeddah – Manchester

Flynas will follow the London flights with a thrice-weekly service between Jeddah and Manchester.

Flight XY 025 will depart Jeddah at 0355 hrs on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, landing in the northern city at 0845 hrs. The return flight, XY 026, will take-off from Manchester at 1015 hrs for a 1855 hrs landing back in Saudi Arabia.

Low Cost Carrier Plus

Flynas is touting what it calls “Low Cost Carrier Plus”, a concept of affordable fares with choice in onboard service and entertainment, on the route where it is the first (and only) low cost carrier operating.

Both flights will be flown using 164-seat Airbus A330s configured with 8 lie-flat business class seats and 156 economy class seats. The former offers 60 inches of legroom, in-flight comfort packs, newspapers and iPad entertainment, while the latter features a 32-inch seat pitch.

Passengers will be able to purchase food and drinks, lounge access, ground transport, excess baggage, amenity kits and extra in-flight movies as add-ons, although premium passengers will receive many of these benefits as standard.

Future Fleet and Route Plans

Flynas currently has a fleet of 27 aircraft, including 3 widebody A330s wet-leased from Portuguese company Hifly. The carrier intends to invest in its own long-haul fleet of widebody jets operating on point-to-point routes to destinations including Casablanca, Jakarta, Karachi, Kuala Lumpur and Paris.
