Las Vegas Opens New High Roller

The city of Las Vegas has opened its latest attraction, The High Roller, taking the title of the world’s tallest observation wheel.

The centerpiece of the the new Linq outdoor pedestrian mall sandwiched between the Flamingo and Quad hotels at the center of the Las Vegas Strip, the 550-feet tall wheel has been illuminating the city skyline with its 2,000 LEDs since end-February 2014. Its 28 pods can accommodate up to 40 visitors each and rides take 30 minutes for a complete rotation, promising stunning views of the Strip and the surrounding mountains.

In the lead up to opening day, owner Caesars Entertainment Corp. treated employees and visitors to free previews of The High Roller. Regular ticket prices will be USD 24.95 during the day and USD 34.95 at night, with 1-day, 3-day and VIP passes ranging from USD 44.95 to USD 59.95. Opening hours will be from 1000 hrs to late daily.

Named by Travel + Leisure magazine as one of its must-see new attractions for 2014, The High Roller is expected to attract up to 4 million tourists and locals per year.
