Now Open: Sofitel So Singapore

French hospitality group Accor opened the doors of the new Sofitel So Singapore in the heart of the Southeast Asian city-state’s Central Business District today. Housed within a 4-storey neo-classical style heritage building built in 1927 at the corner of Singapore’s Robinson Road and Boon Tat Street, the 134-room property is the latest addition to the sub-brand’s growing portfolio.

Like her sister properties in Mauritius and Bangkok, the interior design features French decadence and sophistication, with surprise elements from a renowned fashion designer. Germany’s Karl Lagerfeld, famed for his work with Chanel and Fendi, lent his expertise to the Sofitel So Singapore, designing ‘The Lion’s Seal’ emblem, guestroom book-ends, door knockers, bathrobes and staff uniforms.

Split across the So Heritage and So Hip wings, the accommodations boast Parisian chic with its high ceilings, recessed balconies (So Lofty Suites) and light boxes inspired by French cupolas. At the heart of each guestroom and suite is the brand’s signature MyBed, while the bathroom features a rainforest shower and standalone bathtub. A world first, Apple-based guest technology allows room functions to be controlled from iPad minis, complemented by a Mac mini media solution and the iPhone5, all of which benefit from the complimentary Wi-Fi while guests enjoy the free personal bar and a cuppa from the Illy coffee machine.

Similarly fashionable is the Xperience Restaurant, offering a gastrobar-style experience combining cuisine from Executive Chef Anne-Cecile Degenne (a top 6 finisher in France’s Top Chef competition) with music from the in-house DJ and a chef’s table playfully shaped in the form of a bed. Adjacent to the restaurant, the intimate Xperience Bar serves concoctions from the resident mixologist within an intimate setting. Upstairs, the sexy and trendy Hi-So rooftop bar promises to be one of the must-go destinations in the area, set amidst the surrounding steel and glass skyscrapers.

Glistening in the sunlight by day and the city lights by night, Sofitel So Singapore’s rooftop swimming pool is lined with golden tiles for added flair. Complementing it is the hotel’s So FIT gymnasium, fully-equipped with the latest cardiovascular and weight training equipment.

There are now 3 Sofitel So properties around the world – Sofitel So Mauritius Bel Ombre, Sofitel So Bangkok and Sofitel So Singapore. Epitomised by ultra-contemporary style in trendy destinations, the sub-brand will soon add properties in Mumbai, Rio de Janeiro and Sydney.
