Etihad Begins Los Angeles Flights

Etihad Airways has launched flight services between Abu Dhabi and Los Angeles. The UAE national airline’s inaugural flight to California took off this morning at 0915 hrs, becoming one of the longest commercial flights in the world.


Flight EY 171 will depart Abu Dhabi International Airport at 0850 hrs daily, arriving in Los Angeles at 1420 hrs. The return flight, EY 170, is wheels up from Los Angeles International Airport at 1615 hrs for a 1935 hrs landing in Abu Dhabi the following day.


Etihad will utilize a 3-class Airbus A340-500 on the route until mid-July 2014, when the service switches to a 3-class Boeing 777-200LR jet, configured with 8 Diamond First, 40 Pearl Business and 189 Coral Economy class seats.


The Abu Dhabi – Los Angeles route adds another link between the Middle East and the US West Coast, with Etihad providing convenient connection opportunities to and from Africa, South Asia and the Far East. Los Angeles becomes its fourth destination in the USA, following New York, Chicago and Washington DC, with service to Dallas-Fort Worth due to begin later this year as the airline looks to build its North American presence.
