JetBlue’s Mint Takes Off

Following its reveal last September, JetBlue Airways’ hotly-anticipated Mint premium service was launched on the carrier’s New York (John F. Kennedy) – Los Angeles route. The first of 11 new Airbus A321 jets comprising its transcontinental fleet took to the skies with the enhanced product onboard.

Fully-customized to the specifications of JetBlue, the Mint product features 16 seats that are up to 22.3 inches wide and convert into full-flatbeds. Of these, 4 seats are designed as solo suites with closing doors for improved privacy and personal space, making JetBlue the only US carrier to offer private suites. Every seat is also fitted with a built-in massage function, air cushions for adjustable firmness and shoe storage space, while the entertainment and communication offering includes a 15-inch flatscreen with over 100 channels of DIRECTV programming and SiriusXM satellite radio, dual power outlets and USB ports.

Complementing the hardware is a distinctive soft product jointly presented by the airline and its partners. Passengers are offered a pre-departure signature drink followed by a cocktail and amuse-bouche once airborne, while a tapas-style menu is curated by popular New York City restaurant Saxon+Parole and accompanied by organic desserts from Blue Marble Ice Cream and sweet treats from Mah-ze-Dahr Bakery. Customized men’s and women’s amenity kits on the transcontinental flights are sourced from New York-based Birchbox, a global discovery retail company that offers consumers a personalized way to discover, learn about and purchase the best beauty and grooming products from prestigious brands.

By 3 August 2014, all JetBlue flights between New York (John F. Kennedy) and Los Angeles will feature Mint. The offering will be expanded to the New York (John F. Kennedy) – San Francisco route from 26 October 2014.
