Now Open: One&Only Hayman Island

Kerzner International has opened Australia’s newest private island resort – One&Only Hayman Island. Set in the Whitsunday Islands at the heart of the Great Barrier Reef, the property was recently refurbished at a cost of AUD 80 million (USD 75 million), adding a new wing and reducing the number of guestrooms and suites for a more intimate experience.

Offering elegant resort living, the accommodations are designed to take advantage of the island’s panoramas and natural surroundings and located in 3 distinct areas, each different in style and ambiance. The Hayman Wing at the tranquil eastern side of the resort has been fully refreshed with chic design, with the top floor housing individually-designed Penthouses, including a 2-bedroom unit from acclaimed fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg. The Pool Wing offers direct swim-out access to the pool, while Beach Wing accommodations are ideal for the quintessential Australian beach holiday experience.

With 7 restaurants and bars on-site, One&Only Hayman Island serves up some of the most diverse and experiential dining in the area. The signature restaurant, Fire, features Australian-influenced cuisine with an emphasis on premium produce, while Pacific offers casual dining in a dramatic glass-covered setting by the beach. Amici, Bamboo and Aquazure present Italian, Asian and Spanish flavours, with On the Rocks providing fresh seafood accompanied by crushed juices and cocktails before guests enjoy afternoon tea at Bar Fifty, where the menu also includes smooth Gascony Armagnacs and fine Cognacs. The resort’s dining highlight is an exclusive weekly Chef’s Table presented in partnership with Perrier-Jouet for 20 guests in the main kitchen decorated with the champagne label’s distinct yellow, white and green anemone flower motifs.

An array of event spaces allow the resort to cater for functions ranging from meetings and conferences to romantic beachfront wedding celebrations. Guests may also enjoy a host of unique sporting facilities to discover the island and the Great Barrier Reef (one of the most complex natural ecosystems in the world with over 33,000 species found off the coastline), as well as hiking and private island exploration. The One&Only Spa awaits to welcome guests returning from activities with its blissful treatments and fitness options.

One&Only Hayman Island becomes the brand’s eighth location around the world and spearheads its foray into Asia. 2 more properties are planned for the region, opening in Jeddah and Sanya, while One&Only will also debut in Europe with a resort currently under development in Montenegro.
