Oman Air To Grow In Far East With Jakarta, Manila Flights

Oman Air is embarking on growth in the Far East with the announcement of plans to launch services to Jakarta and Manila from December 2014. The Muscat-based carrier is set to receive the first of 24 new aircraft on-order, boosting its flight operations and ambitions to become a significant player in the competitive Gulf region.


Muscat – Manila

First to launch on 2 December 2014 will be twice weekly flights between Muscat and Manila, with a third weekly flight added from 13 December 2014.


Flight WY 843 will depart Muscat at 1140 hrs on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, arriving in Manila at 0005 hrs the next day. The return flight, WY 844, is wheels up from Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 0350 hrs to land back at Muscat International Airport at 0900 hrs.


Muscat – Jakarta

The Jakarta route will be operated from 12 December 2014 with three flights per week, with a fourth frequency being operated from 2 January 2015.


Flight WY 847 will take off from Muscat at 1445 hrs on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays and land in Jakarta at 0150 hrs the next day. The aircraft turns around to operate the return WY 848 service, departing the Indonesian capital at 0505 hrs to arrive back in the Omani capital at 1010 hrs.


Oman Air will operate a 2-class Airbus A330-200 on both routes, configured with 20 Business and 196 Economy Class seats. Jakarta and Manila will join Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur as the carrier’s third and fourth destinations in Southeast Asia, where it will compete against Gulf rivals Emirates, Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways.
