Shangri-La Opens New Singapore Hotel, Debuts Hotel Jen

Hong Kong-based Shangri-La International Hotel Management Ltd has opened a new property in Singapore, concurrently debuting the new Hotel Jen brand. In the lead-up to the city state’s Formula One weekend, the 502-room Hotel Jen Orchardgateway Singapore opened its doors as the first of 10 hotels scheduled to launch in major Asian cities under the brand inspired by the virtual persona Jen, a professional hotelier who loves life, travel and the adventure of discovering new places.

Part of the new Orchardgateway development in Singapore’s Somerset district, the hotel is targeted at the highly social, young-at-heart traveller. A 25-minute drive from Changi International Airport, it is situated on Orchard Road and enjoys a direct connection to the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) network. The accommodations are designed to be bright and spacious, exuding understated elegance with wood and neutral colour tones, with amenities including comfortable bedding, ensuite bathroom, 40-inch internet protocol television, complimentary wireless internet access, direct-dial telephone, workstation, electronic safe and coffee-/tea-making facilities.

Dining options include Makan@Jen, the signature all-day dining restaurant offering a la carte and buffet selections, with a focus on fresh local produce and authentic flavours. For travellers in a hurry, OnTheGo deli counter presents an array of grab-and-go items throughout the day. The laid back Lounge@Jen serves as a meeting point with its menu of light bites, coffees and cocktails, while the rooftop location of BayWatch@Jen makes for a stunning location to take in the city skyline 19 floors above the bustling street.

Meetings and events for up to 100 guests can be accommodated in Hotel Jen Orchardgateway Singapore’s flexible function spaces and break-out areas, each equipped with state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment. Leisure guests can indulge in lazy afternoons at the rooftop swimming pool, where poolside cabanas are available for relaxing massages, ideal for rejuvenating after a hearty workout in the 24-hour fitness centre.

Shangri-La is targeting an aggressive launch for the Hotel Jen brand. The first phase of the Hotel Jen roll-out will see the rebranding of Traders Hotels in Beijing, Brisbane, Hong Kong, Johor Bahru, Maldives, Manila, Penang and Shenyang from September 2014 to March 2015.
