Oasis Of The Seas Emerges From Drydock Makeover

Royal Caribbean International’s Oasis of the Seas has emerged from a 14-day drydock enhancement, boasting “reimagined dining,” high-speed internet, new retail offerings, a new Broadway show, new suites with exclusive suite dining and a lounge.

More Choices with Dynamic Dining

The original Oasis-class 3-storey dining room has been reimagined into 3 distinct venues introducing new concepts with its own cuisine and ambiance. The American Icon Grill offers a take on the classic American road trip with regional favorites in a comfort-style menu, while Silk features Pan-Asian creations and The Grande for formal dining. Menus of the new concepts will be introduced beginning 14 March 2015, with guests having the traditional dining room experience in the newly designed spaces in the meantime.

Oasis of the Seas gains 4 new concepts for her popular specialty restaurant offering. Izumi Hibachi & Sushi enhances Royal Caribbean International’s Izumi Japanese Cuisine experience with a full teppanyaki menu as well as sushi rolls and sashimi, while authentic and modern Mexican dishes (including hand-made, table side guacamole) can be had at Sabor Taqueria & Tequila Bar, first introduced aboard Navigator of the Seas. The ship will also feature Wonderland Imaginative Cuisine, a culinary experience for the senses where chefs challenge the imagination with never-before-seen molecular fare. Exclusive to suite guests and Pinnacle members, the Coastal Kitchen fuses Mediterranean influences with Californian farmland produce, complemented by a specially-curated wine list.

Finally, popular favorites Giovanni’s Table, 150 Central Park and Vintage Wine Bar, a specialty dining concepts introduced on the Oasis-class in 2009, return.

New Suites and Entertainment

10 new suites are being introduced on Oasis of the Seas offering views of the ocean or the ship’s AquaTheater and Boardwalk neighborhood. Made up of 2 Royal Suites, 6 Grand Suites and 2 Royal Family Suites, the accommodations are paired with new amenities including The Suite Lounge, an exclusive lounge area for suite guests, and The Sun Deck, a private deck area where suites guests can soak-up the sunshine with lounge furniture, shaded seating areas and private service.

The ship’s production entertainment gets an update with the introduction of CATS, the first time the acclaimed Broadway musical is performed at sea. At the Royal Promenade, Royal Caribbean International is bringing in Kate Spade New York, together with Michael Kors, the Britto Art Gallery and brands including Alexis Bittar, Uno de 50, Lauren G Adams, Nina Nguyen and more.

Faster Wi-Fi and a New App

Behind the scenes, the line is promising that its broadband connection onboard will be faster than all other cruise ships combined, allowing it to offer affordable, easy-to-use Internet packages. A new app, Royal iQ, will be made available for download and at freestanding iQ stations around the ship. Guests can use the app to make dining reservations, shore excursions and spa appointments onboard, or as a calendar that provides at-a-glance views of their program and to keep in touch with one another and home via phone and text capabilities.

Christened on 30 November 2009, Oasis of the Seas counts amongst the world’s largest cruise ships. She will now make her way to Southampton, enroute back to her regular homeport in Fort Lauderdale after a successful European season.
