Now Open: Banana Island Resort Doha By Anantara

Thailand-based hospitality operator Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas has opened the latest addition to its growing portfolio. Nestled in the Arabian Gulf off the coast of Doha, Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara offers a paradise island setting accessible by a 20-minute luxury ferry from the downtown Al Shyoukh terminal or a 10-minute helicopter ride from Hamad International Airport, where guests are treated to picturesque views of the crescent-shaped island and its natural harbour framed by an 800-meter long private beach.

Designed in an Arabian style with signature Anantara touches, the 141 guestrooms, suites and villas are luxuriously appointed with plush bedding and living spaces, with most including a private balcony to take in the tropical rays and sea views. A collection of 2-bedroom Over Water Villas and trio of prestigious 3-bedroom Anantara Over Water Villas offer 360 square meters of luxurious space and a 62-square meter private pool.

Dining options at the resort provide a mouthwatering choice of Middle Eastern, Italian and international cuisines at spectacular locations. The flagship restaurant, Al Nahham, serves Arabic Mediterranean fusion cuisine paired with signature beverages and shisha with ambient soundtracks, while specialty dining include Riva with its Italian riviera atmosphere and American-style diner Ted’s. Guests can also enjoy casual dining at all-day dining restaurant Azraq, the Tanzerin Beach Grill and wellness & organic cafe Zest.

The first and only facility of its kind in the Middle East, a dedicated Balance Wellness Centre presents holistic programmes for relaxation, de-toxification, de-stress and  fitness amongst others. Unique facilities include an indoor botanical garden, oxygen fern room, and female-only hydro pool, along with nutritional wellness cuisine with menus crafted by specialist chefs. Complementing it is the Anantara Spa’s treatment menu, paying tribute to the Qatari traditions and cultural heritage.

With the pristine waters of the gulf just footsteps away, Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara boasts its own 30-berth marina and a fully-equipped dive centre for a range of water sports and activities ranging from kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding to fishing trips and yacht cruising. A 2-lane surf pool boasts controllable wave patterns for different skill levels, while the 100-meter long lagoon pool makes for a relaxing swim. On land, recreation facilities include tennis, beach volleyball and a fitness centre. The entertainment centre features a 9-hole golf putting course, 8-pin bowling alley and private theatre to keep guests occupied, while excursions to explore beyond the island can be arranged.

Since the launch of the first Anantara resort in Hua Hin in 2001, the brand has quickly grown with newer and more spectacular locations. Its footprint today covers over 35 properties promising laid-back luxury in 10 countries, from Mozambique and Zambia in Africa to the majestic Mount Emei in Asia.
