Air Arabia To Launch Chinese Connection

Air Arabia is set to enter the Chinese market when it begins flights to Urumqi next month, becoming the first Middle Eastern low cost carrier to do so. The Sharjah-based airline confirmed regular nonstop services to western China’s largest city will begin on 10 February 2015.

Flight G9 800 will depart Sharjah International Airport on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 0935 hrs, arriving at Urumqi’s Diwopu International Airport at 1815 hrs that evening. The return flight, G9 801, takes off from the Chinese city at 1905 hrs for a 2045 hrs arrival back in Sharjah.

Air Arabia will operate its all-economy Airbus A320 on the route, where it will be looking to fuel the business and leisure growth of both regions. A gateway to Xinjiang province, Urumqi is a major transportation hub and offers some of China’s best bazaars and natural beauty, as well as vast oil and gas reserves.

Formed in 2003 by Amiri decree, Air Arabia serves over 88 destinations across the Middle East, North Africa, Asia and Europe from 5 international hubs, including Sharjah and Ras al-Khaimah in the UAE, Morocco, Egypt and Jordan.
