ms Koningsdam Inaugural Season Itineraries Revealed

Holland America Line’s newest ship, ms Koningsdam, will make her debut in summer 2016 sailing from Amsterdam, paying homage to the line’s Dutch heritage. The 99,500-GRT vessel will sail a series of northern Europe and Baltic cruises during her inaugural season, joining 6 other sister ships cruising the continent’s waters.

Following a series of previously announced 7- and 12-day Premiere Sailings in the Mediterranean from February through April 2016, the ship will reposition from Civitavecchia to her seasonal homeport in the Netherlands. The 13-day repositioning cruise departs on 9 May 2016 and explores 10 ports in Spain, Gibraltar, Portugal, France, Belgium and the Netherlands before ending with an overnight at Amsterdam.

From Amsterdam, ms Koningsdam will begin 7- and 14-day roundtrip cruises to Norway, visiting the country’s major ports and fjords including Alesund, Bergen, Flam, Hellesylt, Kristiansand, Oslo and Stavanger, with scenic cruising in the UNESCO-listed Geirangerfjord, Hardangerfjord, Oslofjord and Sognefjord. A Norwegian exploration itinerary with 2 departures (29 May and 17 July 2016) brings guests across the Arctic Circle while calling at 8 ports in Norway and memorable scenic cruising in sights including Trondheimsfjord and the North Cape.

British Isles, Iceland and the Baltic

The ship’s 14 August 2016 departure sees her sail west towards the British Isles and Iceland. Port calls for this voyage include Newcastle upon Tyne, South Queensferry (Edinburgh) and Invergordon (Inverness). Following an overnight stay in Reykjavik, she journeys back to Amsterdam via Isafjordur, Akuruyri, Ålesund and Bergen.

A pair of 14-day itineraries in June and September, visits Scandinavia and the Baltic region, with calls to Copenhagen, Gothenburg, Helsinki, Kiel (Hamburg), Stockholm, Tallinn and Warnemunde (Berlin). Staying in St. Petersburg overnight, the sailings allow ample time for cruisers to explore the wonders of Russia’s tsarist era.

At the completion of her Northern European sailings, ms Koningsdam sails back to Civitavecchia on a 12-day journey that visits England, Gibraltar, Portugal and 4 Spanish ports. The ship will operate another round of Premiere Sailing itineraries from Italy until 24 October 2016, when she moves to Fort Lauderdale, on a 14-day transatlantic voyage following calls at Alicante, Malaga (Granada), Huelva (Seville), and Funchal.
