Star Wars Heads To The High Seas Onboard Disney Fantasy

Disney Cruise Line is bringing Star Wars out to sea. In 2016, the line celebrates Star Wars with a series of activities centered around the popular cult favorite onboard the Disney Fantasy, with the highlight being a brand new, day-long celebration dubbed “Star Wars Day at Sea”. Occurring 1 day during each of the 8 themed sailings, cruisers will be fully-immersed in the onboard atmosphere and activities.

Meet Lord Vader

Darth Vader leads a lineup of popular characters such as Chewbacca, Boba Fett and the Stormtroopers making appearances onboard for scheduled meet-and-greet sessions, while also roaming around the ship and on-deck. Guests are encouraged to dress up in their own interstellar costumes and join in the fun.

Jedi Training Academy

Young Padawans can learn lightsabre moves and techniques from a Jedi Master at the ship’s onboard Jedi Training Academy. Harnessing the Force, they will put their training to good use in a final test against Darth Vader himself.

Younglings not yet ready to handle a lightsabre can immerse themselves in Star Wars-themed arts and crafts, games and activities at the Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab.

Mos Eisley Cantina and Deck Party

The action heats up in the evenings when the night club is transformed into the Mos Eisley Cantina. Characters and cantina music from the movies set the mood as guests indulge in Star Wars-inspired specialty cocktails, an appropriate warm-up for the boisterous deck party.

Characters converge on the deck stage for a celebration of the Star Wars saga in a show featuring special effects and guest participation. Promising music, dancing and games, the deck party culminates in a spectacular display of themed pyrotechnics, lighting, sound effects and lasers.

Fringe Activities

Alongside the highlights are a series of Star Wars-themed food and beverage offerings and special merchandise for purchase. Kids and families can enjoy friendly competition during Star Wars trivia games, covering fun facts from the films and television sagas, which will be shown onboard throughout the sailings.

“Star Wars Day at Sea” will be on Disney Fantasy cruises sailing on 9 and 23 January, 6 and 20 February, 5 and 19 March, as well as 2 and 16 April 2016. Departing from Port Canaveral, the 7-night Western Caribbean itinerary includes calls to Cozumel, Grand Cayman and Disney’s private island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay.
