Korean Air Launches New Premium Cabins

Skyteam member Korean Air has launched the latest generation of its premium cabin products, unveiling a new First Class Kosmo Suite and Business Class Prestige Suite first revealed in February 2015.

First Class – Kosmo Suites

Traditionally a semi-enclosed seat, the airline has opted for higher partitions and sliding doors for the latest iteration of the Kosmo Suite in response to growing preferences for greater privacy from passengers. The seat itself remains a wide armchair that reclines electrically into a full-flat bed, complemented by a large 24-inch high-definition flatscreen monitor and a touchscreen controller that doubles as a second screen for flight information.

Korean Air will install the new product on its fleet of medium- and long-haul jets to be delivered. First to receive it will be the airline’s Boeing 777-300ER jets (which will feature 8 of the new suites), followed by the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, Boeing 747-8Is and Airbus A330-300s. Its flagship Airbus A380 jets will remain configured with the current generation product, with no retrofit plans scheduled.

Business Class – Prestige Suites

In Business Class, Korean Air has introduced the Prestige Suite, an adaptation of the B/E Aerospace Apex seat. Configured in a staggered 2-2-2 layout for direct aisle access, each seat converts to a 74-inch full-flat bed (an upgrade from the airline’s current generation lie-flat sleepers) and features a 23-inch wide flatscreen monitor with a separate touchscreen controller.

The seat is currently flying on Korean Air’s newly-delivered Airbus A330-300 operating the Guangzhou, Hanoi and Singapore routes from its Seoul (Incheon) hub. The airline will install the product on a further 38 medium- and long-haul aircraft it has on order.
