Shanghai Disney Resort Details Revealed

The Walt Disney Company has revealed details of the upcoming Shanghai Disney Resort, its latest vacation destination project in Asia. Currently under construction and scheduled to open in Spring 2016, the property will offer onsite accommodations, dining and retail with Shanghai Disneyland as its centerpiece.

Shanghai Disneyland – 6 Themed Lands

Divided into 6 themed areas with lush gardens, live stage productions and thrilling rides, Shanghai Disneyland will offer guests a comprehensive experience with popular Disney characters including Mickey Mouse and his friends, the Disney princesses, Captain Jack Sparrow and Winnie the Pooh.

Inspired by the colourful personality of the world’s most famous mouse, Mickey Avenue is a mainstay of any Disney park. Here, guests can meet all-time favorite Disney characters, share a hug and get that memorable photo. Continuing on to Gardens of Imagination, visitors can take a spin on the “Fantasia Carousel”, fly on the back of Dumbo the Flying Elephant, take in the light and sound stage productions, or enjoy the “Mickey’s Storybook Express” parade along the longest route in any Disney park.

Home to the “Enchanted Storybook Castle”, Fantasyland will be the largest zone within the park and recreate familiar Disney stories with rides such as the “Voyage to the Crystal Grotto”, “Seven Dwarfs Mine Train” and “Peter Pan’s Flight”. At night, the sky above will be painted in dazzling light, with music, special effects and fireworks.

Adventure Isle is set as a newly discovered lost world filled with hidden treasures, with the “Roaring Rapids” rafting adventure towered by the mighty “Roaring Mountain” set at the heart of the zone. Treasure Cove will be Disney’s first pirate-themed land, where guests join the adventures of Captain Jack Sparrow and Davy Jones with the “Pirates of the Caribbean – Battle for the Sunken Treasure” attraction.

Headlining Tomorrowland is a massive, colour-shifting canopy leading to the “TRON Lightcycle Power Run”, a coaster-style attraction where guests board a train of two-wheeled Lightcycles for one of the most thrilling adventures at any Disney park. Exclusive to Shanghai Disneyland, “Star Wars Launch Bay” and “Marvel Universe” bring to life 2 of the world’s most popular science fiction franchises through interactive multimedia cinematic experiences, as visitors meet characters including Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader and the Marvel Super Heroes.

Hotels, Disneytown, Wishing Star Park

Part of the Shanghai International Tourism and Resorts Zone, Shanghai Disney Resort will also comprise the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel and Toy Story Hotel adjacent to the theme park. An integrated shopping, dining and entertainment district, Disneytown will be home to the Walt Disney Grand Theatre staging the first-ever Mandarin production of “The Lion King”, complemented by the beautiful gardens, walking paths and glittering lake of the Wishing Star Park.
