China Airlines To Launch Taipei – Melbourne – Christchurch Service

SkyTeam member China Airlines is to boost its network in the southern hemisphere later this year with the launch of new Taipei (Taoyuan) – Melbourne – Christchurch flights. From 25 October 2015 through 26 March 2016, the taiwanese carrier will fly the route 3 times weekly using a 2-class Airbus A330-300 aircraft.


On Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, Flight CI 057 will depart Taipei at 2330 hrs for a lunchtime arrival in Melbourne at 1150 hrs the next day. The flight then continues to Christchurch at 1330 hrs every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, touching down in New Zeland at 1830 hrs.


The return flight, CI 058, is wheels up from Christchurch at 1950 hrs and lands at Melbourne’s Tullamarine International Airport at 2140 hrs. Following reprovisioning and a crew change, the aircraft will leave the gat at 2310 hrs to reach Taipei at 0535 hrs the following morning.


The move provides Victorians with a nonstop option to Taiwan and onwards to northeast Asia, while also building on China Airlines’ successful year-round Brisbane and Sydney services which continue to Auckland.
