Now Open: Hylandia By Shangri-La

44 years since its founding, Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts arrives in the destination that inspired the brand – the Chinese city of Shangri-La. The Hong Kong-based hospitality group is launching the new Hylandia by Shangri-La today in the area of Diqing, among the mountains of Yunnan province.


Steeped in the region’s Tibetan influences, the hotel’s design blends the modern with the traditional. Pavilions, courtyards and gardens stand amongst the main building housing 166 elegantly-appointed guestrooms and suites. Each features a minimum floor area of 43 square meters and offers amenities including luxury bedding, a marble bathroom, flatscreen television and complimentary Wi-Fi.


Dining options include Ani’s Kitchen, an all-day dining multi-cuisine restaurant, specialty Yunnan-Tibetan restaurant Hotspot and the outdoor Shambala barbecue on the roof garden with its own fire pit and stargazing telescope. Under the high ceiling and surrounding sheer screens is the Winter Garden, where guests can simply relax as they savour snacks and beverages. Alternatively, the Lodger’s Lounge and Aroma Room offer intimate venues for a tipple or appreciation of the finest tea available in the region.


Meeting and convention planners have 1,920 square meters of event space at their disposal, including the city’s largest ballroom and 4 smaller meeting rooms. The hotel also boasts a library area called the Wisdom Room, while recreational facilities comprise of a health club with an indoor swimming pool, jacuzzis and gymnasium.


Hylandia by Shangri-La becomes the group’s 92nd property and its 45th in mainland China.
