Now Open: Studio City Macau

Macau celebrated the debut of its newest resort in star-studded style as legends of stage and screen came together for the opening of Studio City Macau, Melco Crown Entertainment’s USD 3.2 billion, movie-inspired integrated resort in the heart of Cotai.

 

An exclusive audience of VIPs from around the globe, government dignitaries, business partners, local communities and members of the media formed the guest list which included Hollywood A-listers Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio, Academy Award-winning director Martin Scorsese and acclaimed producer Brett Ratner, who were present to showcase their short film “The Audition” set and filmed in the resort. Singing diva Mariah Carey, Hong Kong’s Aaron Kwok and K-pop star SISTARZ put up storming performances for the Grand Opening Show held at the stunning 5,000-seat Studio City Event Center, followed by a glamourous black tie Gala Dinner featuring culinary delights from its line-up of celebrity chefs.

 

1,600-room Studio City Hotel

Offering views of Cotai and the Lotus Bridge border crossing, the Studio City Hotel features 1,600 guestrooms and suites in 2 distinct towers. The Star Tower offers lavish facilities and dedicated service including personalized check-in, private indoor heated swimming pool and the exclusive Star Club to discerning guests, while the Celebrity Tower boasts comfort and style with cinematic touches.

 

Diverse Dining Options

Studio City Macau presents a diverse range of over 30 world-class restaurants, cafes and a number of relaxed bars and lounges located throughout the property. Among these are signature restaurants from celebrity chefs including Pearl Dragon from Michelin-starred chef Tam Kwok Fung, the eponymous Pierre Hermé Paris from world-leading chef Pâtissier Pierre Hermé and Japanese cuisine at Hide Yamamoto, while Hawaiian celebrity chef Alan Wong and multiple Michelin-starred Alain Ducasse will both open restaurants later in 2016. A stunning space station-themed Cosmos Food Station promises to be both a sensory and visual treat with holographic projection technology creating ‘out-of-this-world’ deep space visages.

 

Innovative Entertainment Venues

Situated in between the stunning Art Deco-inspired hotel towers, the iconic Golden Reel is a hallmark of the resort and a Macau first. At 130 meters above the ground, the world’s highest figure-8 ferris wheel offers riders a unique perspective of Cotai from its 17 Steampunk-themed cabins. The party continues at Pacha Macau, the first Asian outpost for one of the biggest names in nightlife entertainment bringing its Ibiza-style party culture to the region.

 

A collaboration with Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment brings several entertainment highlights from the studios to Macau. Fans of Batman can follow the dark knight through Gotham City on Batman Dark Flight, an immersive 4D motion ride based on an action-packed, digitally animated storyline. The 4,000-square meter Warner Bros. Fun Zone is themed around characters from Warner Bros., DC Comics, Hanna-Barbera Productions and the Looney Tunes entertainment franchises.

 

Studio City Macau also offers plenty of live entertainment platforms. Designed, curated and hosted by acclaimed illusionist, Franz Harary, the House of Magic is a unique multi-theater attraction with an array of mind-bending shows including the resident performance – “Mega Magic”. The 5,000-seat Studio City Event Center hosts live concerts, theatrical productions, top sporting events, award shows and other special showcase events, while Studio 8 is Macau’s only television studio facility in Macau to provide open access plug-and play facilities.
