St. Regis Makes South Asian Debut With Mumbai Opening

Starwood Hotels & Resorts’ luxury St. Regis brand made its South Asian debut with the official opening of the new St. Regis Mumbai in the heart of India’s commercial capital. The city’s leading denizens turned up to celebrate the occasion with a glittering opening party hosted by executives from Starwood and partner Pallazzio Hotels & Leisure.

Located in the premium commercial, residential and entertainment district of Lower Parel, the property occupies the tallest hotel tower in India and provides easy access to the Bandra Kurla Complex, Nariman Point and Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. Urban refinement, complemented by warm tones and specially-commissioned artwork gives an elegant and stylish design to the 395 guestrooms and public spaces.

The well-appointed accommodations include 27 lavish suites and 39 residential suites for extended stays. Offering views of the cityscape or the Arabian Sea, each is furnished with beds topped with luxurious 300-threadcount Egyptian cotton sheets, a marble bathroom with separate rainforest shower and bathtub, 40-inch LED television, Wi-Fi connectivity, media hub, workdesk and fully-stocked refreshment centre. All guests also enjoy anticipatory, yet discreet St. Regis Butler Service, a brand hallmark.

The St. Regis Mumbai houses 9 elegant restaurants, bars and nightlife venues. Seven Kitchens serves up international cuisine and sunday brunch in a refined setting bathed in natural light, while the tastes of China, Thailand and Vietnam are brought to guests at By the Mekong. The finest Japanese ingredients air-flown from the land of the rising sun are transformed into modern culinary creations at Yuuka, whereas robust Indian delicacies can be had at The Sahib Room & Kipling Bar, inspired by the India’s colonial heritage.

The brand’s afternoon tea ritual comes to life in The Drawing Room, enhanced by local flavors and Indian estate teas. Guests seeking something stronger can head to The St. Regis Bar for the “Mumbai Mary”, the hotel’s take on the iconic “Bloody Mary” incorporating spices like cinnamon and coriander. Other nightlife options at the hotel include Li Bai, EXO and Asilo.

Offering more than 3,900 square meters of private event space across two levels, the hotel is a choice venue for glamourous, large-scale events with a dedicated entrance and reception foyer, as well as a separate bridal salon for The Ballroom catering to lavish wedding ceremonies and receptions. The brand’s Iridium Spa concept arrives in India with 9 treatment rooms and a menu boasting use of Omorovicza products, in addition to a professional salon, fitness center and a 25-meter outdoor pool with panoramic views.

The St. Regis Mumbai joins the brand’s growing portfolio of hotels and resorts worldwide. Starwood is aiming to expand the St. Regis brand presence in South Asia, exploring opportunities in key cities including Delhi, Bangalore and Goa, while the first St. Regis resort in the Maldives is set to debut next year.
