Eva Air Plans Istanbul Flights

Taiwanese airline Eva Air is preparing to launch direct service between Taipei and Istanbul, as it looks to capitalize on growing demand from leisure travellers to Turkey.

From 5 March 2016, the Star Alliance member will fly the route 4 times weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Outbound flight BR 079 will depart Taipei (Taoyuan) at 0030 hrs, arriving at Istanbul (Ataturk) at 0730 hrs. The return service, BR 080, takes off from Turkey’s largest city at 1320 hrs to land back in Taipei at 0515 hrs the next day.

Eva Air will deploy its flagship Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on the new service. The jets are configured in a 3-class layout, featuring 38 Royal Laurel business, 64 Elite premium economy and 211 Economy Class seats together with on-demand inflight entertainment. Selected aircraft are also fitted with onboard mobile and internet connectivity.

Istanbul becomes Eva Air’s fifth European destination, after London, Paris, Amsterdam and Vienna. The airline already codeshares with fellow Star Alliance member Turkish Airlines and will boost its European connectivity via the latter’s Istanbul hub, which will offer passengers onward travel options to major cities including Barcelona, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Lisbon and Stockholm.
