Four Seasons Resort Lanai Reopens Following Revamp

Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts recently celebrated the reopening of the Four Seasons Resort Lanai, situated on a 90,000-acre secluded island 9 miles from Maui. Owner Larry Ellison joined Four Seasons founder and chairman Isadore Sharp, Maui mayor Alan Arakawa, local dignitaries, community members and employees in a traditional Hawaiian blessing ceremony to officially open the resort, following an extensive remodeling of the property.

Featuring 217 guestrooms and suites, the resort draws inspiration from Hawaii’s diverse and storied influences, with interiors furnished with teak and zebra wood, artisan-produced Nepalese Lokta paper and mahogany floors laid with hand-woven wool area rugs. Verdant botanical gardens and waterways reveal both intimate enclaves as well as spectacular vistas to the Pacific Ocean and serve as a beautiful backdrop for commissioned works of outdoor art and sculpture. The sumptuous accommodations are outfitted with the signature Four Seasons Bed, bathroom with dual vanity, deep-soaking bathtub and separate rainforest shower, 75-inch LED television, in-room iPad Air tablet, wearable key wristbands, complimentary Wi-Fi and fully-stocked refreshment center with Nespresso coffee machine.

Dining at Four Seasons Resort Lanai promises multiple experiences with a variety of cuisines and flavours at its 8 restaurants and lounges. Leading the line-up is NOBU Lanai, drawing upon the classical sushi chef training and travel influences of chef Nobu Matsuhisa, while One Forty American Steak Hawaiian Seafood emphasizes the use of local ingredients for its extensive steak and seafood men paired to views of Hulopoe Bay. Also enjoying the same view is Kailani, a casual lunch venue serving daily specials prepared using seasonal produce, while golfers will enjoy the island-influenced cuisine and cliff-side panoramas at Views at Manele Golf. 4 bars (the Sports Bar, Kailani Bar, Lobby Bar and Kope) offer a selection of beverages, with the latter being a specialty location for Hawaiian Pressed coffees.

Lanai’s diverse topography creates an island of unique contrasts, with myriad activities for guests. On-property, a lagoon-style free-form central pool serves as the main sun-lounging area, with a separate adults-only Retreat marketed as a sublime sanctuary steps away from the private white-sand beach and waters of Hulopoe Bay, where resident dolphins are a frequent sight. An immersive spa and wellness program is available at the resort’s spa, surrounded by lush gardens, cascading waterfalls and lava rock grottos, complemented by shopping after treatments at the luxury boutiques featuring brands such as Missoni, Jimmy Choo and the Lanai Collection for the ladies while the gentlemen enjoy a round of golf at the Jack Nicklaus-designed 18-hole golf course.

Guests may also choose from activities including hiking and horseback riding in the green upcountry lands or off-roading across red dirt roads coloured from volcanic rock. The resort’s team can also arrange whale- and dolphin-watch cruises, luxury sailing yacht charters, helicopter tours of the Hawaiian Islands from above and cultural interactions with the kupuna (elders).
