Malindo Air Launches Service To Hong Kong

Malindo Air has commenced flight services on its new Kuala Lumpur – Hong Kong route, expanding its international network which now covers 19 destinations across the Asia Pacific. The new route comes in time for the Chinese New Year holidays celebrated in both its native Malaysia and the Chinese Special Administrative Region.

Flight OD 605 departs Kuala Lumpur daily at 1015 hrs, arriving in Hong Kong at 1410 hrs. The aircraft turns around at Hong Kong International Airport, taking off as the return flight OD 606 at 1510 hrs for a 1905 hrs landing back at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. The airline will operate a 162-seat, 2-class Boeing 737-800 on the route.

The Malaysian carrier hope to grow traffic numbers between both cities and the larger south China region, but will come up against strong competition from AirAsia, Malaysia Airlines and Cathay Pacific, which all offer multiple flights daily. Hong Kong becomes Malindo Air’s second destination in Greater China, following Sanya on Hainan Island.
