Hyatt Expands Chinese Portfolio With Chengdu Opening

Hyatt Hotels Corporation has opened the Grand Hyatt Chengdu, its first hotel in China’s Sichuan province. Located in the city’s Jinjiang district, the hotel is a 30-minute drive from Shuangliu International Airport and occupies the 10th to 39th floors of the Chicony Square building.

390 guestrooms and suites range in size from 40 to 190 square meters and feature views of the city through floor-to-ceiling windows. Each is furnished with luxurious amenities including King-sized or twin beds, marble bathroom with separate bathtub and rainforest shower, high-definition flatscreen television, complimentary high-speed internet access and an oversized desk with enhanced lighting for business travellers. Guests in the hotel’s Club guestrooms and suites also enjoy exclusive access to the Grand Club.

The property boasts 7 food & beverage outlets serving a selection of local and international cuisines. With its location in the capital of Sichuan province, #8 offers the region’s world-famous hot pot and featuring a unique market area showcasing the fresh ingredients being prepared by the culinary team, while the aptly-named BBQ is an open-air, tabletop barbecue restaurant with a casual cook-it-yourself concept. The all-day dining Grand Cafe serves as a residential kitchen with a cozy country setting, while the elegant Salon emulates the living room environment of a luxury French residence paired with sweet treats from the adjacent Nougat patisserie. When the sun sets, Xi-Mi comes alive to present its modern cabaret-style entertainment by the bar and a seductive maze garden with the cityscape as its backdrop. A steakhouse will be added in the second quarter of 2016.

With nearly 3,000 square meters of flexible function space, ranging from intimate meeting rooms to a 712-square meter ballroom, the hotel is well-positioned to cater to the varied needs of the MICE market. Selected spaces are also designed with separate living rooms and open kitchen typical of Hyatt’s residential meeting concept. Leisure facilities include a fully-equipped fitness centre, heated swimming pool and jacuzzi, as well as a day spa.

Grand Hyatt Chengdu becomes the 11th Grand Hyatt hotel in China, joining existing properties in Beijing, Dalian, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Lijiang, Macau, Shanghai, Shenyang and Shenzhen. The brand is set to continue its growth in the country later this year with the opening of the Grand Hyatt Sanya.
