Silkair Outlines Return To Laos In October 2016

Singapore-based regional airline Silkair has revealed plans to launch service to Laos in October 2016, with a triangular flight between the city-state, Vientiane and Luang Prabang. The Singapore Airlines subsidiary returns to Laos after a hiatus of 18 years, when it ended flights to Vientiane.


Subject to approvals, Silkair will fly 3 times weekly on Monday, Thursday and Saturday. Flight MI 788 departs Singapore at 1420 hrs, arriving in Vientiane at 1615 hrs before continuing at 1705 hrs to the northern city of Luang Prabang, where it is scheduled to arrive at 1800 hrs. The aircraft is wheels up again at 1850 hrs for its return leg to Singapore, landing back at Changi International Airport at 2305 hrs.


SilkAir will operate a 2-class Airbus A320 jet, configured with 12 Business and 138 Economy class seats, on the route.


The addition of Vientiane and Luang Prabang increases the airline’s network to 51 destinations in 14 countries. It also completes the Singapore Airlines Group’s coverage of the ASEAN region, with service to all 10 countries under the grouping by its carriers.
