C-3PO To Take Flight With ANA

Japan’s All Nippon Airways (ANA) has announced plans to add a new Star Wars-themed aircraft to its fleet, the fourth to feature characters from the acclaimed movie franchise as part of the ANA Star Wars Project in partnership with The Walt Disney Company (Japan) Ltd.

Unveiled to fans at the Star Wars Celebration Europe event in London, the new C-3PO ANA Jet will see the Star Alliance member paint a Boeing 777-200ER aircraft in the iconic gold colour of the much-loved protocol droid that first appeared in the original Star Wars movies. Adding to the striking colour scheme are detailed body part motifs and an exposed wiring decal on the fuselage over the wings, highlighting the level of detail in the livery.

From end-March 2017, the C-3PO ANA Jet will join the existing R2-D2 ANA Jet, BB-8 ANA Jet and Star Wars ANA Jet currently flying within and beyond Japan on the airline’s route network. Unlike her sisters, the aircraft is earmarked to fly on selected domestic services within Japan only, connecting Tokyo with the major cities of Fukuoka, Osaka, Sapporo and Okinawa.
