Plaza Premium Group Opens Aerotel Rio de Janeiro And New Lounges

Plaza Premium Group, the Hong Kong-based lounge operator, has expanded operations into South America with the opening of its latest Aerotel transit hotel concept and a trio of lounges in Rio de Janeiro’s Tom Jobim International Airport.

Aerotel Rio de Janeiro

Aerotel Rio de Janeiro marks the brand’s third location after its debut in Singapore and Abu Dhabi.

Located on level 3 of the international departures pier in Terminal 2, it offers 16 cozy guestrooms airside for travellers with long layovers or oddly-timed flights. Compact at between 8 to 13 square meters, the accommodations provide clean beds with an attached bathroom and shower, workdesk, air-conditioning and a flatscreen television. The design aesthetic follows Plaza Premium’s understated wood, marble and stone finishes, while also incorporating Brazilian elements for a local touch.

International Departures, Domestic Departures and Arrivals Lounges

Opening in conjunction with the transit hotel are Plaza Premium Group’s trio of pay-in lounges at the airport, each having distinct lounge zones catering to travellers needing to work or relax prior to takeoff or after landing.

Adjacent to the Aerotel Rio de Janeiro, the new International Departures lounge occupies nearly 1,300 square meters of tranquil space with modern design inspired by the soul of the city and Brazilian culture. This design DNA is shared with the smaller Domestic Departures and Arrivals lounges, where the furniture, murals, carpet and graffiti artwork reflect the vibrant Carioca identity with references to iconic sites such as Copacabana Beach.

The lounges are well-equipped with Plaza Premium’s signature honeycomb seating, meeting and VIP rooms, as well as an exclusive outdoor terrace. Facilities include powerful hot showers for travellers to refresh themselves, complimentary Wi-Fi, electrical outlets and USB sockets to recharge and stay connected, while the food & beverage offerings incorporate Brazilian flavours such as caipirinha, the national beverage.
