United Airlines Receives First Boeing 777-300ER

United Airlines has taken delivery of its first Boeing 777-300ER jet, featuring the all-new United Polaris business class. The aircraft, registered N2331U, was ferried from the plane maker’s Everett factory to San Francisco, where it is planned to begin scheduled services to New York (Newark) from February 2017.

Configured with 366 seats across 2 classes, the airline’s previously-unveiled United Polaris business-class pods make their debut on the jet, offering direct-aisle access and full-flat beds in an upgrade from the current 6- and 8-abreast layouts. 306 Economy Class seats (including 102 Economy Plus seats with better legroom and recline) are laid out 3-4-3 across and offer individual on-demand inflight entertainment.

United will begin revenue service with the new B777-300ERs on the San Francisco – New York (Newark) route 6 times weekly to introduce the new products and allow for crew familiarization. From 25 March 2017, the jets will take over the UA 869/862 intercontinental service between San Francisco and Hong Kong.

The airline expects to place a further 13 B777-300ERs into service, part of its fleet renewal plans together with the B787 Dreamliners and Airbus A350-1000s to replace older B747-400s with more fuel-efficient aircraft.
