Network Enhancements From Cathay Pacific

Cathay Pacific has announced flight frequency changes to several key destinations later this year.

21x Weekly Hong Kong – San Francisco

San Francisco, a popular North American destination for the airline, will be served by 3 daily flights from the end of October 2017. Its Airbus A350 will be introduced on the Hong Kong-San Francisco route, currently flown 17 times weekly.

Departing at 1755 hrs (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays) / 1845 hrs (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays), flight CX 892 touches down in the USA at 1355 hrs (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays) / 1445 hrs (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays). The return CX 893 service is wheels up from San Francisco at 0055 hrs and arrives in Hong Kong at 0805 hrs the next morning.

However, capacity between Hong Kong and California will remain largely the same, with the airline reducing services to Los Angeles. Currently operated 4 times daily, this will be scaled back to 3 flights per day with the cancellation of the CX 898/897 service.

Direct Flights for Brisbane, Frequency Reduction for Hong Kong – Cairns

In Australia, Cathay will replace its current 4 times weekly services to Brisbane via Cairns with new direct flights to both cities.

Between October 2017 and March 2018, flight CX 155 will depart Hong Kong for Brisbane on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. The return CX 150 service from Brisbane to Hong Kong flies on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Timings for both flights are yet to be fixed by Cathay Pacific, although it is expected to be optimised for connections in Hong Kong.

The change means that overall capacity to Cairns is reduced with the destination moving to a 3 times weekly schedule. Flight CX 103 will be retimed to depart Hong Kong at 2125 hrs on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, landing in Cairns at 0635 hrs the next morning before returning as flight CX 146 at 0805 hrs for a 1320 hrs arrival back in Hong Kong.

More Flights for Madrid, Manchester and Paris

Cathay Pacific will also increase its European frequencies for selected routes this winter.

Effective 3 November 2017, the Hong Kong – Madrid route will be served 5 times weekly, with the current CX 315/320 service also being operated on Fridays. CX 357/358 operating the Hong Kong – Manchester route gains a sixth weekly flight on Sundays from 03 December 2017, while the airline will also resume its 11th weekly flight to Paris.

Cathay Pacific currently operates 108 weekly flights to North America, 93 to Europe and 75 to Australia. The airline will also expand its network, with new services to Tel Aviv, Barcelona and Christchurch to launch later this year.
