Costa Cruises Prepares To Celebrate 65th Anniversary, Highlights 2014 Deployment Plans

Italy’s Costa Cruises is preparing to celebrate 65 years in the industry, which takes place on 31 March 2013. Special events have been planned to take place on all 14 vessels of the fleet and the line has also announced its cruise program for 2014, presenting over 1,000 voyages visiting 250 destinations from 44 different embarkation ports.

 

Mediterranean

The majority of Costa Cruises’ fleet will be deployed to the Mediterranean during the course of 2014, offering year-round itineraries. Ranging from short sailings of between 3 and 5 days to longer 14-day itineraries, 13 Costa ships will call at major Mediterranean ports on popular itineraries including the exclusive Dalmatian Coast cruises and island-hopping in the Aegean Sea.

 

In November 2014, cruisers can also look forward to the debut of the new Costa Diadema, currently under construction at shipbuilder Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard. To be homeported in Savona, she will operate week-long cruises calling at Barcelona, Civitavecchia, Marseille, Palma de Mallorca and La Spezia, a new port for the line and gateway to picturesque Tuscany.

 

Northern Europe

Costa Cruises’ 2014 summer season in Northern Europe will be enhanced by the addition of the Costa Mediterranea, giving it 5 ships operating in the region. Homeporting in Hamburg, she will join 4 other sister ships on cruises lasting between 7 and 16 days visiting the Baltic Sea ports of Helsinki, St. Petersburg, Stockholm and Tallinn, while also taking in the breathtaking beauty of Iceland, the Norwegian fjords, North Cape and Spitsbergen Island.

 

Caribbean and South America

The Caribbean will see the Costa Luminosa, Costa Magica and Costa Mediterranea for winter 2014/2015 sailing itineraries ranging from 7 to 10 days from Guadaloupe and Miami. Further south, Costa Favolosa and Costa Pacifica will cruise South American waters, touring Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay.

 

Middle East

A key market for the line, highlights for Costa’s Middle East programme include the week-long “Thousand and One Nights” cruise to the UAE and Oman onboard the Costa Serena and a Red Sea itinerary on the Costa Voyager. The former visits the regional metropolises of Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Muscat, while the latter showcases must-see ancient civilizations of Egypt, Israel and Jordan.

 

Far East

The Costa Atlantica and Costa Victoria will return to cruise Asian waters in 2014, offering itineraries exploring Southeast Asia from Singapore and Northeast Asia from Shanghai. The Far East is quickly becoming an important market for Costa Cruises, which continues to build its presence there.

 

World Cruise

In 2015, Costa Deliziosa will again offer a world cruise, navigating the globe on a 115-day westbound voyage. Setting sail from Savona on 6 January 2015, she will cover 5 continents and call at exotic locales including Bora Bora, Casablanca, Dakar, Hangaroa, Jamestown, Moorea, Port Louis, Puerto Madryn, Punta Arenas and Walvis Bay in Namibia.
